Low-fidelity sketch sheets to help visualise ideas, workflows and scenarios.
You’re building a VR experience or game but where do you start? I had this exact question not so long ago. I decided to start the design process with paper prototyping much like any other design project I start.
Paper prototyping is an efficient way to ideate and collaborates with others in the early stages of design. Unlike high-fidelity designs which come with considerable time and cost constraints, the benefits of low-fidelity prototyping at the start of a project include:
Breaking down the functionality for my scene as follows;
- Ability to iterate quickly through different ideas and concepts
- Easier to collaborate with stakeholders and users with possible changes that lead to improvements and better solutions
- Designers and creators are not as heavily invested and can easily give up on unused prototypes
The VR Paper Prototype sheets were inspired by MikeAlger’s VR Interface Design Manifesto and with the decisions to work with the Daydream headset, I also created an action sheet which will help plan out events and user interactions.
You can download the PDF sheets here which include:

- Wide UI View
- Top Down 360 View
